albania

europe's best-kept secret

Albania has changed quickly and is now one of the most exciting places to travel in Europe. The Albanian Riviera has clear Ionian water, quiet coves and islands off Ksamil.

Inland, the UNESCO-listed towns of Berat and Gjirokastër are full of Ottoman houses, and Butrint is a remarkable ancient site. In the north, the Accursed Mountains offer dramatic hiking.

Hotels are still simpler than elsewhere in the Mediterranean, but the best are charming, and the food is excellent value.
