St Martin is divided between France and the Netherlands, and you can drive between the two without noticing the border. The French side is quieter, with long beaches and the restaurants of Grand Case; the Dutch side is busier, with shopping and nightlife in Philipsburg.
It is also the gateway to St Barths and Anguilla, both a short hop away.
