central america
Central America fits an extraordinary amount into a small space. In a single day you can walk through rainforest in the morning and swim in the Caribbean or the Pacific by the afternoon.
Costa Rica is the easiest place to start, with excellent lodges, wildlife everywhere and a real focus on conservation. Belize has the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, private cayes and Mayan sites deep in the jungle.
Guatemala is the cultural heart of the region, with colonial Antigua, Lake Atitlán and the temples of Tikal. Panama pairs its canal and capital with remote islands on both coasts, and El Salvador’s surf beaches and volcanoes are still largely undiscovered.
We usually combine a nature lodge with a beach, and keep the transfers short with small planes and private drivers.

Yes. Costa Rica is one of the easiest countries in the Americas to travel in, with good roads, short flights and superb nature lodges.
The dry season, from December to April, is the most popular. The green season from May to November brings lush landscapes, fewer visitors and afternoon showers, and can be a lovely time to travel.
Costa Rica and Panama, or Guatemala and Belize, pair well and are linked by short flights. We’ll plan a route that balances time in the forest with time on the beach.
Costa Rica and Belize are wonderful for families, with zip lines, wildlife walks, snorkelling and relaxed beach hotels.
Light layers, good walking shoes, a waterproof and insect repellent. Cloud forests can be cool in the evenings, so bring a warm layer too.
