NEVIS, WEST INDIES

The best-kept secret of the Caribbean.

Nevis is a small island in the Caribbean Sea that forms part of the inner arc of the Leeward Islands chain of the West Indies. Neighboured by the island of Saint Kitts, these undiscovered islands constitute one country: the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Nevis is located near the northern end of the Lesser Antilles archipelago, about 350 kilometers east-southeast of Puerto Rico and 80 kilometers west of Antigua. Its area is 93 square kilometers and the capital is Charlestown.

Nevis is one of the most undiscovered and laidback islands in the Caribbean. Vividly green with blue skies, clean air and long empty beaches, Nevis has a pace of life that encourages you to stop and appreciate all the natural beauty around you. It’s a very special place famed for its charm and the easy-going genuineness of its people. Come and discover #naturallynevis for yourself. Trust us – you won’t want to leave!

Nevis History & Culture

Intrepid Carib Indians, who travelled from South America, were the first to settle on the island, which was called โ€˜Oualieโ€™ at the time. These settlers peacefully appreciated the islandโ€™s natural beauty and resources, until the Europeans arrived in the late 1400s and used the island regularly as a point of reference during voyages โ€“ naming the location Nevis.

Today, Nevis continues to celebrate its rich history and culture through a series of events that take place throughout the year, allowing visitors and locals alike to celebrate the food, the people and the natural elements of the island, from swims, runs and agriculture tours, to cooking festivals and music events.
